Pioneer Cottages of Fergus Falls is pleased to announce their partnership with Live 2 B Healthy®, to begin offering residents the health benefits of a professional senior fitness program. All classes are led by Nationally-Certified Personal Trainers and are designed specifically for seniors who are dealing with memory loss due to Alzheimer’s.
While fitness classes for Memory Care residents is a novel new concept that has gained a lot of support following new research into Alzheimer’s care options, Live 2 B Healthy® has been conducting Memory Care classes since 2008.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, “Professionals working in dementia care have long observed that exercising at the mid-stages of Alzheimer’s disease helps patients maintain independent living skills, maintain muscle memory, reduce fall risk and promote balance and mobility. Exercise also helps reduce stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia – problems that often affect people in the mid-stages of Alzheimer’s.” [Caregiver Tips & Tools, Edition #19].
Cory Czepa, Live 2 B Healthy® President and Founder, said “Our goals at Live 2 B Healthy ® are not just about maintenance or rehabilitation…We are interested in becoming a Bridge to IMPROVED Wellness. Nowhere is this more evident than in our Memory Care programs.”
Pioneer Cottages is offering this new Memory Care Fitness Program to their community residents with classes held three days a week beginning on June 24, 2019. The program is supported in part by PioneerCare Foundation’s Ruth and Russell Simonson Fund.
