Workshop Presents Holistic View of Retirement
Planning for retirement can be a complex process leading to financial and emotional uncertainties. In April 2023, PioneerCare partnered with Fergus Falls Community Education and the Otter Tail County Coordinator on Aging to host Retirement: Charting Your Plan, a holistic approach to preparing for retirement.
Due to its popularity the event is back and better. It is set for Wednesday, October 4 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Roosevelt Education Center in Fergus Falls. Attendees will have the chance to hear from a diverse slate of experts and community members ready to explore the topic.
Retirement can be your chance to take a new direction and reinvent the way you contribute to the society around you. While attendees enjoy a light meal, a discussion panel made up of local people using their talent and experience in new work or volunteer roles will provide interesting real-life examples. Scheduled panel members include Patti Fandrich, John MacFarlane, Kitty Rund, and John Sethre.
Attendees will learn the latest updates regarding Medicare, Medicaid, and available options for additional assistance, and how they influence the ability to plan for long term care. This part of the evening will be led by Melissa Dahl, Otter Tail County Coordinator on Aging and Kurt Nygaard, an experienced financial planner.
Tim Stauffer, a knowledgeable financial expert, will lead participants through the basics of social security and financing your retirement. Discover the impact of choosing your retirement date, its effect on social security benefits, and how your retirement savings or part-time work can help fund your long-term financial plans.
The workshop will be held in the Roosevelt Education Center at 340 Friberg Avenue in Fergus Falls. While there is no cost to attend, reservations are required by Friday, September 29. A light meal will be provided. Registration and more details are available by calling (218) 998-0544, extension 9200.
The workshop is a collaboration among Fergus Falls Community Education, PioneerCare, and Otter Tail County and is not intended to sell services from specific providers.
